| I'm back. Again. Sorta. With probably flawed hopes of maintaining this. Except elsewhere.
It has been a really long time since I've written something here. By "here", of course, I mean that magical buzz word, blogosphere. Where I'm writing it [online] is technically different than before... and here's why. Whence things started back in 2002, I merely edited a file and put it up for display... one new file a week with all the updates. Yeah, that lasted a whole, what, six months? And after a little break, a souped up version came out, where I basically wrote whenever I wanted to, and magically, within 12 hours, the news was there. A little ways into that project, I decided to, at the same time, feed quick notes to friends that used 2 other web log services whenever the main page was updated. This wonderful process was very inclusive of me, but it also meant that I actually was maintaining three different logs. That ends now. The masses have asked for content, and in exchange, I decided to make it so that the act of writing something was no longer a daunting task. My apologies for anyone this inconveniences, but consider the loss in service as for the greater good. Hopefully, you'll have more of me.
In the last week, all old posts (from both previous incarnations) have been retroactively added to the "new" journal. Don't say I didn't try. It was quite a task over four nights to manually add and touch up the 312 historical entries so that they're available. Right now, some of the old links may not work... it's that they either pointed to old web log URLs, or, the sites to which they've linked just don't exist anymore. (For example, you'd find references to several different times I've maintained a web calendar/schedule, and I'll tell you now that none currently exist.) The old website, news.sweetgoodness.org, is still there and no longer changes every 12 hours like it used to. A new main page points everyone here. Now, one of the reasons I made this change is that I've decided to separate my personal web presence away from Sweet Goodness, which should stand alone and on its own. My old personal web page, previously located at brian.sweetgoodness.org, which was a barely prettier page than a very similar page that used to live on UI's student server, which was basically a better copy than the horrible, basic home page I created in high school, is now located in a new online location and sports a new domain: www.uhyeahwhatever.info. Livejournal is now the main powerhouse behind my web log, so "friend" me (note the new name, though if we're already livejournal friends, no additional action is required on your part) and follow along. For those that heart the facebook, my postings will also be fed in via the Notes application. LJ also allows for an RSS feed; ask me and I'll tell you where I've hidden it.
I know the world wonders where I've been, what I'm doing, and where I'm going. Fear not, there's always time. Well, not always. But you know.
Summary: I guess you'll have to check elsewhere for Brian news. (You could also just visit, call, or email, too...) | | |
